The self test isn't mandatory nor is there any secret code here that you need to apply. It's just a good way for you to double check your site and better understand what I need to see for you to win one of these awards.
You should be able to answer yes to these questions:
- Did you really read and understand the criteria?
- Did you check out the winners list to see what we are looking for
- Does your site function in both Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator
- Do the colors of your background, text, and graphics work well together?
- Have you checked to make sure all your links are in working order?
- Is your site free of errors? No little yellow J-script errors in the status bar?
- If you collect visitor info on your site, do you have a privacy policy?
- Do you have an award gallery?
- Have you ever had someone look at your site to see how it looks to them in their browser, and on their computer?
You should be able to answer NO to these questions:
- Does your site HaVe TeXt LiKe ThIs?
- Does your site give you a headache when you look at it?
- Is your site full of animations that serve no purpose accept to look cute?
- Do you have any broken images on your site?
- Do you use other webmasters content without giving them credit?
- Does your site have a pop up that asks me to bookmark it when I exit?
- Do I need to go make coffee while your site loads?
- Does your site have more than 2 banners advertisements per page?
- Does your site ask me for my name when it loads
Can you honestly say that your site complies with most if not all of the statements above? If so then you may now move on to the application. If not then I'm sorry to say that your chances of winning this award have become very small, and you should work on your site a bit more before applying.
